Philanthropy

"It has been said that service is the rent we pay for the space we occupy on Earth." -Purple Pilgrim, p.49

Service is one the five values that we pledge to uphold. As such, the chapter dedicates much of its effort to helping the community. We hold two philanthropy events a year, one for each semester.

In the fall, we hold FIJI Fright Fest to benefit the Central Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross. Each year, the local chapter of the Red Cross provides relief to disaster victims in the Central Illinois area. It also conducts training in first aid, CPR, and AED. Fiji Bowl is a week long event that consists of a pumpkin carving contest and a pasta dinner, the main event of Fiji Bowl. In Fall 2012, we raised $3,665 for the Red Cross.

In addition, we also support the Keep On Keeping On Foundation in the Spring. The Keep On Keeping On Foundation is an organization that strives to raise money and awareness for those with severe physical disabilities. We host three events in the Spring to raise money for this organization: A 24-hour run around the quad, a BBQ dinner and a volleyball tournament. In Spring 2013, we raised $5,172.78 for the Keep On Keeping On Foundation.
